Fire Station Fun

We took Sam to visit the local fire station yesterday. He had a blast! The nice fire marshal showed us around. Sam got to crawl in all the fire trucks and even run the lights. I think we've solidified even further his love for anything fire fighter related.

Big News Coming Soon!

It's never a dull moment at this Winkler house. Things have been changing in the last couple of weeks with our decision to build a house in Georgetown. Instead it looks like we will be moving a little deeper into Round Rock to be closer to Sam's school. We are praying about this house right now. We'll see!!!

Birthday Party Fun

Sam went to a birthday party this afternoon at an inflatable party place. I didn't know how he'd handle all the kids and inflatables. I think he liked it! In fact, he had a BLAST!!!
The pictures aren't great, but you can see the big slide that was his favorite.

I see you!

I have found the first little cucumber on my tower garden! Once they start maturing, I am going to have a TON of cucumbers.  I couldn't grow tasty cucumbers on the farm. The soil turned them very bitter. So I'm hoping these will taste better.

Back in the saddle

Sam loves his birthday scooter. About three weeks ago he fell down while standing on his scooter. After that, he wanted nothing to do with it. I'm happy to report that he is back in the saddle!

Just call him Mr. Fix-It

It's so hot outside during the day right now. It's supposed to be above 100 for most of this week. Yuck! At least the 100s held off until almost the end of July.

In the evenings we play outside. We still sweat, but it's not as hot. Sam has started to enjoy walking his bunny. He's strapped into Sam's tricycle with another bunny in the front basket. Yesterday we took the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood and we were probably quite the sight. I had two dogs on two leashes going two different directions. Sam was pushing his stuffed bunny in his tricycle. We made it through the walk, but it wasn't pretty.

Now Sam is doing maintenance on his trike.

Tower Garden

Although we are no longer on the farm, I stil get to grow my favorite veggies! Jason bought me this tower garden for my birthday. Right now I'm growing cucumbers, basil, lettuce, and tomatoes. I already picked a bunch of lettuce. I can't wait until the cucumbers and tomatoes come in too!

Construction is moving along

Our house build is finally starting to look like something.  It's exciting to see the outer walls go up and the footprint of the house come to life.  It still looks like the finish date will probably  be November.  For now, we are excited to see the progress!

Here is Sam standing in his room.  Although at this stage of the build it was pretty confusing to walk through the rooms, Sam knows where his room is in the house.  He told me that his bunny will stay in his room with him.  Too cute.

This is the latest picture of the house.  They air conditioner is all ready to go, the outer walls are up, and the roof has tar paper.  The driveway and sidewalks have been formed up.  I bet the next time we stop by, there will be a driveway!

Jason likes to stop by multiple times each week.  It's fun to see the progress.

Capitol School of Austin

Sam starts a new adventure this fall.  He will be attending a five day a week preschool!  Jason and I have enrolled Sam in Capitol School of Austin.  It's a private school for kids with speech and language delays.

Sam attended two days of Capitol School's summer camp in June to determine if the school would be a good fit.  Although he seemed a little overwhelmed after the first day, I think he really enjoyed his time.  He couldn't wait to get out of the car on the second day!

This will mean a major adjustment for our family starting in the fall.  Sam will attend school and keep up his therapy schedule, Jason will be driving back and forth to Temple, and I will still be going to Killeen two days a week.  Our family will be stretched thin yet again, but we pray that God will bless our efforts to give Sam the best.

Summertime

The summer is flying by!  I cannot believe that it's already mid July.  The fall semester will be starting in just over one month.  Yikes!

We are enjoying our summer in Round Rock.  The driveway in our rent house is a great place for Sam to ride on his scooter and play sidewalk chalk and cars.  We have been very busy with therapy three times as week and swimming lessons on Tuesday, but we have found many opportunities to enjoy our summer.
